Active Nation is a public engagement programme designed to inspire the people of Scotland to be more active in their everyday lives in the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games and beyond.

Many people in Scotland are not sufficiently active to maintain healthy lives. Active Nation aims to help Scots become more active and live longer, healthier lives. Through local community facilities and a huge range of events and programmes across the country, Active Nation will help people to get involved in a wide range of activities.

Everyone can get involved.

The idea is to be a bit more active than you are at the moment – for example by walking to work regularly or by doing a new exercise class or by joining in a dance group - the possibilities are endless and only you will know what will suit you best .

Don’t worry if sport is not your thing or you feel out of shape.

This is the chance for you to find something active to do that you really enjoy and then build it into your everyday life. It’s amazing how quickly you will feel the benefits and how quickly you can improve your activity levels.
